Michael Healy is an employment and business litigation attorney who defends businesses against legal claims including wrongful termination, retaliation, harassment, discrimination, wage and hour claims and claims brought under the Private Attorney General Act. He provides counsel to clients regarding compliance with wage and hour laws, employee discipline, leave of absence, and the creation and maintaining of company handbooks and policies. Mr. Healy is also experienced in conducting independent workplace investigations.
Mr. Healy is a designated advocate with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and has drafted and contributed to appeals and amicus briefs filed in the United States Supreme Court, Ninth Circuit and California Fourth District Court of Appeal. The results of his briefing and appellate work include the published decision in Chaker v. Mateo (2012) 209 Cal.App.4th 1138 in which he successfully defended his client’s free speech rights against a defamation lawsuit.
Outside of the law, Mr. Healy is an active member of the Immaculata Parish on the University of San Diego campus, a SCUBA diver, surfer, and enjoys watching terrible movies with his friends and family.
