Jennifer Sarkozy Branch

Jennifer Sarkozy Branch is a founding member of Andrews • Lagasse • Branch & Bell LLP, specializing in employment and education law. She defends employers in single plaintiff claims, class actions and actions under the Private Attorney General Act (PAGA), involving allegations of wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage & hour violations, breach of contract, unfair competition, and other workplace misconduct. She defends academic institutions in employment disputes, breach of contract claims, and student claims of harassment, discrimination and retaliation. She also defends businesses in ADA and access-related claims. Ms. Branch practices in both state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies.

Ms. Branch also dedicates her practice to consulting with clients in order to help them avoid litigation. She advises public and privately held companies of all sizes, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions with respect to personnel and student issues, including discipline, termination, leave laws, disability accommodation, wage & hour issues, classification issues, and compliance with regulations applicable to government contractors and schools, including Title IX of the Education Amendments Act and FERPA. She routinely prepares handbooks, employment-related contracts, policies, and affirmative action programs. She offers proactive training on unlawful harassment and best management practices, and serves as an independent investigator for employers seeking objective workplace investigations.

Ms. Branch has been recognized as a Top Attorney by the San Diego Daily Transcript in the area of labor and employment law. She’s been named one of the Top 50 Attorneys, Top 25 Women Lawyers, and included on the San Diego Super Lawyers list in the area of labor and employment law. She is also a recipient of the San Diego Business Journal's Women Who Mean Business award.

Ms. Branch regularly lectures on various employment-related topics at legal seminars, and she works closely with Risk Managers from private companies and insurers to offer training and pre-termination consulting geared towards the reduction of claims. She was also an instructor of Personnel Law for the San Diego Employers Association in its certification program for human resource professionals.

Before founding Andrews • Lagasse • Branch & Bell LLP, Ms. Branch was a partner at one of California's largest law firms, where she practiced in its Employment Department.

Ms. Branch graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and she obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she graduated with honors. Ms. Branch served as a Judicial Extern for The Honorable Paul J. Barbadoro, Chief Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire and she served as an extern for the National Labor Relations Board, Region 20.

Ms. Branch is a member of the State Bar of California and the State Bar of Massachusetts. She is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association's Labor and Employment section. She also volunteers as a judge for the San Diego Teen Court Program, a diversion program for first-time juvenile offenders.
